Request summary: At present we are required by various Boards to provide a ratio of our electrical employees for categories stated in the Electricity Law / Regulations 2005 (Electricians, Wiremen & Apprentices). I would like to add this request for information regarding all the electrical contractors on island.

Refused: Section 9(c) of the FOI Law, compliance with the request would unreasonably divert the Department’s resources. Note that the Department did not have the calculations requested. To comply with the request would require the review of hundreds of pages and substantial time. The request could not be narrowed by the FOI applicant.

‘List all salary increments/adjustments given to your respective department employees between 1 March 2010 and 31 October, 2010. Please note the precise date on which those increments took effect.’ ‘Please state the percentage increase of these increments relative to the individual’s salary. The information need not state the person’s exact salary. Established ranges will be fine.’ ‘I do not require the employees’ names or their positions within the portfolio. If you could refer to the employees receiving the adjustments as “employee #1, employee #2” that would be fine.’ ‘Please also indicate whether the government’s 3.2 per cent salary reduction took place in your department/portfolio. If there is any particular reason why an employee received a salary adjustment/increment, feel free to state that.’
